The Harding basketball teams picked up their first sweep of the conference season last night over the SAU Muleriders in Searcy in front of a less-than-average crowd at the Rhodes Field House. That’s too bad, because they were both good games, especially if you’re a fan of HU. Let’s look at the keys for the Bisons:
HU | Opp | +/- | ||
Eff | 114.4 | 98.3 | 16.1 | Actual net efficiency |
TS% | 66.1 | 55.7 | 0.105 | |
OR% | 23.3% | 21.9% | 0.015 | |
TR | 17.3 | 17.2 | -0.001 | |
16.0 | Predicted net efficiency |

The offense was on track, as the 66.1 true shooting percentage shows. The Bisons managed to take good shots and still hit a few threes, shooting 7-of-10 from beyond the arc. Rebounding and turnovers were fairly even throughout the game.
Five Bisons scored in double figures, led by Lonnie Smith’s 18. Cole Kee’s shot was falling, so he had 16 points. Sprewell and Savadogo combined for 28 points and 15 rebounds, and Patrick Andrepont chipped in 11. Steven Barnett didn’t shoot well, but he did have 7 assists and only 2 turnovers in 26 minutes, so his play continued to improve.
Kenny Langhorne led SAU with 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Cory Green contributed 14 for the Riders, while Brandon Bealer had 16. Langhorne’s game score of 18.2 was the highest for either team.
I have to say, I was impressed with the team’s play last night, enough that I’ll probably try to make the trip to Conway on Monday night to see the game against UCA. The Bisons are now 1.5 games out of the last conference tournament spot, but it’s just one game in the loss column.
Here are last night’s scores from other games, followed by the updated standings:
