Braves Chart of the Day: May 15, 2009

He’s not up with the major league team anymore, but I figured I’d post this anyway since today is his birthday.  Clint Sammons is seven months older than I am, so he’s turning 26 today.  He’s not much of a hitting prospect, as you can see from the chart, so his ceiling is that of a low-hit big-league backup catcher.

Sammons has never topped .800 in OPS for a full minor-league season.  He split 2007 between Myrtle Beach and Mississippi, getting the call to AA after a hot start, but he finished that season with a .680 OPS between the two levels.  He’s beginning to enter his prime, which looks like it will be spent shuttling between AAA and the bigs.
