The Bisons took down the North Alabama Lions this afternoon in Florence, 86-78. The win gets the team back on track after a tough loss Monday night in Huntsville. Lonnie Smith led the way with 29 points, while Patrick Andrepont had nine rebounds and five assists. Smith’s game score of 25.0 was his second effort of 25 or better. Andrepont had a solid game, but not in terms of shooting, so Cole Kee was actually the only other Bison with a game score over 10.
The four key stats for this game are below:
HU | Opp. | |
TS% | 56.0 | 53.0 |
OR% | 40.5% | 35.0% |
TR | 14.4 | 17.2 |
FTM/P | 0.132 | 0.193 |
As you can see, we held a slight edge in each of the three most important areas: shooting, rebounding, and possession. Free-throw shooting was a problem once again, hopefully one that can be rectified over the next few weeks of games. Our guards will have to get inside more to take better shots and get to the line in the process.
A.J. Gordon and Reprobatus Bibbs had the highest game scores for UNA, with scores of 14.5 and 11.8, respectively. The Lions struggled mightily from outside, hitting just 3-of-16 on three-pointers.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, and have a great day shopping tomorrow. The next game is Tuesday night, a home rematch against Alabama-Huntsville, so I’ll have an update then.
