For all the talk about his decline and his brilliant New York flameout, Javy Vazquez has kept up a strong strikeout rate, walk rate, and kept the ball in the park over the course of his career. Early on, his ERA pretty much mirrored his FIP, and it’s only been in recent years where that difference became greater. I’d expect him to keep pitching well in 2009, although perhaps not quite as well as he has so far.
