It certainly looks that way. Nate Silver announced yesterday on the Baseball Prospectus: Unfiltered blog that BP would be helping to launch basketballprospectus.com next month. It will be focused mostly on college basketball because their main writer will be Ken Pomeroy of the tremendous kenpom.com site. John Gasaway of Big Ten Wonk will also be joining him, among other writers. You can also expect a College Basketball Prospectus book to be out before the 2008-2009 season.
Basketball Prospectus will be completely free, unlike its baseball counterpart, and it will be the home of Pomeroy’s ratings and RPI rankings. If there was one college basketball site I couldn’t do without, it would be his, so I’m excited to see his work attached to the Prospectus label.
Personally, I strive to provide the same type of statistical analysis for Harding basketball that he does for all of Division-I, and I hope that’s evident on this site. Needless to say, I’ll be closely following their work.
Interesting stuff. The nation’s twelve NBA fans are disappointed that it’s going to focus on college, though.
That’s okay, Simmons and his 11 friends have Hollinger and the guys at 82games if they need someone to talk to.
I have a feeling that this is going to be much, much better, though.
I thought the nation’s twelve NBA fans were all Shawn Kemp’s children.
